My Relaxed Hair Wash Day Regimen

My relaxed hair care wash day regimen varies according to my schedule and what events are currently going on in my life. There are weeks when I co-wash my hair two or more times a week depending on my running schedule.

I am in love with trying new products so the oils, shampoos, treatments, and conditioners I use vary.

Below is the regimen I stick with the most, and works wonderful for my hair.

Between 1 and 12 weeks posts relaxer...

Week 1 Wash Day

  • Pre-Poo Oil Mix (Almond, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Coconut, JBCO) (Overnight if Possible)
  • Wash with Sulfate Free Shampoo (Nutress)
  • Hard Protein Treatment (Aphogee Two Step)
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Conditioner (Product Varies) 
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner (Elasta QP)
  • Proceed to Style (Roller Set or Air Dry)


Week 2 Wash Day

  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner (Product Varies)
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Deep Conditioner 
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner 
  • Proceed to Style 

Week 3 Wash Day

  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Light Protein Conditioner
  • 15 Minute Deep Condition with Kera Care Dry and Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Light Protein Leave in (Aphogee Keratin Green Tea)
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 4 Wash Day

  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Wash with Sulfate Shampoo (Kera Care Moisturizing Shampoo for dry and itchy scalp)
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 5 Wash Day

  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Light Protein Conditioner
  • 15 Minute Deep Condition with Kera Care Dry and Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 6 Wash Day

  • Pre-Poo Oil Mix (Almond, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Coconut, JBCO)
  • Wash with Sulfate Free Shampoo
  • Medium Protein Treatment (Africa's Best Hair Mayo)
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Between 7 and 12 weeks post relaxer I focus more on moisture for my new growth's sake.... so I do a lot more co-washing with moisturizing conditioners.

Week 7 Wash Day
  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
  • 15 Minute Deep Condition with Kera Care Dry and Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 8 Wash Day
  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Light Protein Conditioner
  • Apply Light Protein Leave in (Aphogee Keratin Green Tea)
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 9 Wash Day
  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Deep Conditioner
  • 15 Minute Deep Condition with Kera Care Dry and Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 10 Wash Day
  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Light Protein Conditioner
  • 15 Minute Deep Condition with Kera Care Dry and Itchy Scalp Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 11 Wash Day

  • Pre-Poo Oil Mix (Almond, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Coconut, JBCO) (Overnight if Possible)
  • Wash with Sulfate Free Shampoo
  • Hard Protein Treatment
  • Deep Condition with Moisturizing Conditioner
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style

Week 12 and Beyond Wash Day
  • Pre Poo (Coconut Oil)
  • Co-Wash with regular rinse out Conditioner
  • Deep Condition with Light Protein Conditioner
  • Apply Light Protein Leave in (Aphogee Keratin Green Tea)
  • Apply Moisturizing Leave in Conditioner
  • Proceed to Style
Relaxer Day at the Salon unless I continue to stretch my relaxer
  • Coat relaxed strands with Olive Oil the morning or night before my salon visit.
  • Relaxer Touch Up
  • Neutralizing Shampoo
  • Protein Treatment
  • Condition
  • Apply Leave-Ins
  • Roller Set/Style
